A thirst for knowledge has driven Alexandre in all spheres of his life - salsa is no exception. Having graduated from law school and looking for a new challenge from his practice of martial arts, Alexandre embarked on his dance training in 2001, beginning his journey at the Hampstead School of Latin Dance and quickly undertaking an intense exploration of the burgeoning London scene, learning from early notable names such as the Tropicana and Salsoteca dance schools.

An invitation to join the Diablo Dance Company (European Salsa Slam 2005 and 2006 champions) under the direction of Laith Sami in 2004 catapulted him onto the performance circuit. He was one of the founding members of the group, touring the UK for over a year and appearing on national television.

Alexandre’s precise and technically explicit teaching gained increasing recognition in London. His focus on crisp, clear leading and smooth, inventive moves, combined with a dedicated and patient approach, dabbled with humour, has proved to be a heady cocktail and made him a sought after instructor. He has been a regular instructor for all the high profile London dance organisations, including MamboCity and Simply Salsa, SOS, Salsa UK and Salsoteca as well as being invited to teach at the MamboCity and Salsa UK congresses and internationally at events in Russia, Spain, Hungary and Sweden.

Alexandre moved from London to Hong Kong in late 2007 to help raise the standard of Salsa dancing in the city and to introduce New York Style On2 Salsa dancing to the city. By the end of 2008, Hong Kong had a strong base of On2 dancers, with people expressing themselves to rhythm with body movement and shines. The general standard of dancing increased and he was voted Best Male Instructor of 2008. Now Alexandre hopes to focus on growing the number of people in the scene and making HK a must visit place for Salsa dancers in Asia.
