In his over 20 years as a ballet teacher and dance educator, Stephen Xavier brings to his students his experience as a professional ballet dancer, and a training that emphasizes the development of artistry in addition to technique.

Stephen is currently Artistic Director of The Hong Kong Ballet Group, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting ballet education and nurturing local ballet talent through ballet productions, competitions, workshops and master classes.

As a ballet dancer, Stephen performed with the Hong Kong Ballet and The Royal Ballet in London, having been trained at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal Ballet School. His professional accolades include the Hong Kong Ballet’s “Dancer of the Year” Award and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund Scholarship.

Upon completing the Royal Ballet School’s Teachers’ Training Course for Professional Dancers, Stephen began his teaching career at the International School of Ballet in Calgary, Canada. Since his return to Hong Kong, he has taught at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and at various local ballet schools. He has also been a guest teacher in other parts of the world, including France, United Kingdom, Japan and China. Over the years, he has coached students of all ages, many of whom have gone on to professional dance careers, or have achieved good results at ballet competitions and exams.
