Stella Chan

Instructor | Performer

Stella started dancing when she was eighteen. Her passion to dance drove her to train in different forms of dance including Hip-Hop, Mambo, Salsa, Ballroom, Latin, Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Tap.

Stella’s Hip-Hop training is diverse, with her strongest influences being Bryan Green, Bev Brown, Luam and Sheryl Murakami in the United States and Bowie Wong and Bboy Hongson in Hong Kong. In February 2009, Stella performed two numbers in the StudioDanz Showcase which inspired her to make a journey to the USA to further her dance education.

In March 2009 Stella decided to increase her dance knowledge and spend a year studying dance in Los Angeles and New York. This intensive full time training in New York Broadway Dance Centre and the Millennium Dance Center in Los Angeles in various dance styles including Hip-Hop, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, brought her dancing to a new level.

With Salsa and Mambo, Stella attended professional instructor level training workshops in Palm Springs, California delivered by Edie Espinosa. In New York City, Stella studied with world renowned instructors Eddie Torres, Frankie Martinez and Nelson Flores.

Stella also performed twice whilst in New York with Baila Society (Ahtoy Borja) and Descarga Latina (Nelson Flores).

Stella loves to inspire people, to feel the music and enjoy dancing. With a strong focus on Hip-Hop and Salsa and boosted by experience in other dance styles, Stella encourages everyone to dance with their own flavor on top of the foundation and techniques she delivers. “Have fun” and “Feel” are the key elements to enjoy and improving dance. Just like a great meal, she believes that only the right ‘seasonings’ will make the dance ‘delicious’!
