Becky Roberts

Instructor | Performer

Becky discovered salsa through her love of Latin Jazz, Cuban and Nu-Yorican music.

Long before she took to the dancefloor, she was inspired by the rhythm and soul from the whole range of salsa music and an invitation from a friend to go to a London Latin club sparked her interest in the dance form.

Becky’s enthusiasm and natural flare led her to train with established teachers such as Susanna Montero, SuperMario, the Tropicana dance school and Manhattan Mambo.

She relishes the fact that salsa has opened up the world to her in a completely unique way and brought so many new,like-minded souls across her path. Her particular passion for On2 style salsa took her to New York and she’s also explored salsa in many European countries, soaking up knowledge from a wide variety of instructors and improving her style by exposing herself to the influences that each country had to offer.

Her performances for the Tropicana Dance School and the Seraphim Dance Company have allowed her to push her own boundaries, but her desire to constantly improve and her commitment to enjoying the fun side of salsa remain at the core of what’s kept her on the dance floor for so long.

She freely admits to encouraging friends, colleagues and random strangers to try out a salsa class and this energy and positivity spills over into her teaching. Witnessing her students improve in class is one factor that motivates her involvement in the art form along with making new friends and dancing till she drops.
